How much gas does revoking cost?
Revoking an approval sets an allowance back to zero. It changes a permission, not a balance, so the only cost is the network fee — no tokens move and Shingan charges nothing.
Roughly what to expect
A revoke is a small transaction, comparable to a simple token approval. On cheap, fast chains like Base, Optimism, Arbitrum and Polygon the fee is usually a few cents. On Ethereum mainnet it depends on gas prices and can be a dollar or more when the network is busy.
How to pay less
- Revoke during quiet periods when gas is low.
- Batch cleanups when a revoke tool supports multiple approvals in one transaction.
- Prioritise the dangerous ones first: unlimited approvals to unknown or flagged spenders.
The important part
Cost is not the reason people get drained — not knowing an approval exists is. Continuous monitoring tells you the moment one appears, so you can decide calmly rather than in a panic.
